Open Heartland was created in 2020 during the pandemic to offer support to local immigrant families during challenging times, helping them navigate the difficulties of adapting to a new community and rebuilding their lives. After almost 5 years serving our community Open Heartland has remained 100% volunteer run.

Open five days a week our tienda program provides household essentials for our families free of charge. Including housing items, clothing, shoes, diapers and other hygine items. Our F.I.P. provides consistant cultural specific foods free of charge for families.

Through offering services to our families such as ESL classes, mobile health clinics, adult education classes, summer children’s programming, and Folklorico dancing as well as hosting events such as Loteria we hope to foster a feeling of security and belonging within our Johnson County community.
